Greg Haley, GCSAA 


Greg ​Haley has a rich history in the golf business.  Golf is in his blood as his family is synonomous with golf in the Southwest Virginia region.  Greg was a high sc​hool (Bassett High School) and college standout winning a National Championship while at Elon University.  Greg is owner of Haley Golf and  has owned and managed several golf courses throughout his career including Mariner's Landing in ​Smith Mountain Lake and Northgreen Country Club in Rocky Mount, NC,  a former ACC Championship venue for many years. 

 

James Draper III, USGTF 

DIRECTOR OF GOLF 

James Draper III is a third generation golfer.  His grandfather played professionally and his father was a scratch golfer right handed and single digit left handed.  Jay Dee had a respected high school career finishing runner up in the independent school state championship.  He won the National Minority Collegiate Championship his freshman year and won the CIAA conference championship his sophomore year at Johnson C. Smith University.  After raising a family, he went back to school to play college golf at 35 years of age at Winston Salem State University in which he was medalist at their host event winning by a record seven shots. His certifications include being licensed by the United States Golf Teachers Federation, World Golf Teachers Federation, US KIDS GOLF,  National Registry of Professional Golf Instructors, The First Tee Level II, and a certified club fitter across all brands.  James is currently the golf coach at Patrick & Henry Community College. 


Lee Forbes

OWNER/OPERATOR

Billy Lee Forbes, Jr. is one of the owner/operators of Beaver Creek Golf Club as has been around the game of golf for years.  Lee is a 1981 graduate of Bassett High School (Bassett, VA) where he put his brains and brawn to work as a Governors School scholar as well as an All Piedmont District football standout.  He attended Ferrum College, graduating in 1985, where he was on the Traveling All-Star Softball team, also while serving on the sports media team serving as an audio-visual technician for the college football team. 

After college, Lee worked for Bassett Furniture Industries for 35 years.  The majority of his tenure entailed serving as the Director of Asian Operations, as he lived in the Orient for fifteen years.
